How do you take your tea or coffee?
Submitted by Vasquez.
i like to start my day with a korean green tea. it's not as bitter as other teas and has a comforting smell that reminds me of my mom. after lunch, i need the kick of espresso. my daily coffee drink is a double shot soy latte. if i'm dragging more than usual (like i am right now), make it a triple.
What are some of your favorite holiday traditions?

christmas is my favorite holiday. the entire family makes an effort to clear their schedule for that one day. we exclaim over how the kids have grown, how the adults haven't aged at all, and how everyone has lost weight. then we eat until we have to unbuckle our pants. those who plan ahead wear stretchy pants. once the plates have been cleared, the fun really begins. starting with the youngest child, working our way up to the oldest, we have to perform a song, a dance, or some other God-given talent, in order to collect our gifts. you're only exempt when you get married or turn 30, whichever comes first.

sometimes i feel like a gerbil, running around and around on its wheel: running, looking around, and then realizing i really haven't gone anywhere. maybe that's why i hate carousels. i don't see the point of them. brightly colored horses with eyes wide open and lips peeled back. mirrors and lights creating the illusion of a magical ride.
there was a guy in college who we called "fingers". he could lift things no one would think of stealing. his apartment had a collection of furniture he had taken from the dorm rec room, lounge, and even a lecture hall. street signs labeled each of the rooms, a stop sign hung on his bedroom door, and there was a speed limit for the hallway. the best was the newspaper dispenser he had gotten from the corner. i later noted that the remaining ones were chained to the lamppost. then, he showed up on my door step one night with a plastic lamb that looked like it had once been part of a carousel. i don't know where he got it from and i never asked. it didn't matter. it was a gift. i love that lamb. it's still in my garage. sometimes i like to sit on it and reminisce.
but that was a long time ago...
What books did you love as a child?
Submitted by hearts.
so many. where do i begin?? i read the little house on the prairie books until the bindings broke. anne of green gables. little women, little men, jo's boys. emily of new moon. matilda. i didn't notice the commonality in these books until i got older. they're all about extraordinary, independent girls who followed their hearts, their passions, regardless of what others thought. they are who i have aspired to be.
the older i get, the less patience i seem to have.
i try and all i can do is sigh. my head starts to hurt from holding in my frustrations. until i have to leave the room to relieve the pressure.
my sister and i joke about being angry little asian girls. i even have matching tshirts for us. like most jokes, there is some truth in what we say.
